Following recent announcements from the new CEO of the company Elon Musk, hundreds of Twitter employees are quitting voluntarily.

Yesterday Elon Musk tweeted a phrase that employees should be prepared for “long hours at high intensity,” or leave. Some of the top engineers who opted to exit are saying they were already working 60-70 hours a week, and they are choosing the option of becoming free. Many of them had changed their social media status to “softcore engineer” or “ex-hardcore engineer”.
Twitter’s employees are highly reluctant to remain at the company after Musk’s radical attempts to fundamentally reorganize the entire company and introduce extremely long working hours.
Yesterday, the billionaire tweeted that he was not concerned about people leaving, because “the best people are staying”, according to him. The following tweet said, “We just hit another all time high in Twitter usage…”. After resignations piled up, Musk then joked: “How do you make a small fortune in social media? he tweeted. Start out with a large one.” Several days ago he also mentioned that Twitter’s bankruptcy cannot be ruled out.
On Thursday, the company also restricted the employees’ access to its offices. No explanation for such a decision has been provided.
Many resignations come from the company’s departments responsible for fixing bugs and ensuring the overall stability of the platform. The number of reports of Twitter outages rose from less than 50 to around 350 yesterday evening.
