Swedish prosecutor today confirmed that investigators have found traces of explosives at the Nord Stream’s impact location.

Prosecutor also noted that this evidence confirms that events that led to the large-scale damage in the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines were an act of “gross sabotage”.
These gas pipelines are located in the Baltic Sea and connect Russia and Germany.
Denmark announced last month that the leaks were caused by powerful explosions. Increased seismic activity was also registered by geologists from Denmark and Sweden which led to the preliminary assumption that pipelines were not damaged by natural causes.
“Analysis that has now been carried out shows traces of explosives on several of the objects that were recovered,” said Swedish Prosecution Authority.
Currently, the investigations continue with the aim to determine those responsible for the sabotage. Swedish officials do not provide detailed information about the type of explosives that were used to disrupt the Nord Stream’s operations.
On-site inspections also revealed that Nord Stream 1 misses a section measuring at least 50 meters (164 feet) long.
Russia previously accused British Navy of blowing up the pipelines. London denied this claim saying these accusations were aimed at distracting attention from the unfolding events in Ukraine, amidst the ongoing Russian invasion of this country.
